NORTH ADAMS — A veteran instructor who has always wanted to own her own business recently opened a gymnastics facility at 1288 Massachusetts Avenue.

Amy Garner, who has been involved with gymnastics for 35 years, describes owning Gemini Gymnastics as a “lifelong dream.” “I love to share my knowledge and experience with young adults,” Garner said.

Her goal is to provide a safe place and friendly community for youngsters to go after school, and to teach them the skills that will help them throughout their lives. Garner, the facility’s sole owner, started in gymnastics as a student at age 3. She began teaching gymnastics as a student instructor when she was 10. Garner, the facility’s director and head coach for all classes, has also been competitive gymnast. She is certified by a variety of organizations, including USA Gymnastics.

Gemini’s five other employees include assistant coach Michelle Briggs and recreational and competitive coach Olivia Griffin, who have both competed at the Junior Olympic level. Griffin was an AAU Junior Olympic All-American champion in 2010.
